THE CELLAR MASTER,
Much like the conductor of an orchestra, produces Champagne by emphasizing the best features of each selected wine in the blend. Each note of each wine is worked on during the blending phase to transcribe the singularity of the House, the Charles Heidsieck style.
A Masterful Handover
Élise Losfelt passes the keys tothe charles style to Émilien Érard
Both masters of their craft, united by the same pursuit of excellence and passion. Appointed in March 2023 as Cellar Master, Élise Losfelt crafted the blends in the finest tradition of the House, bringing her personal touch, expertise, and attention to detail. She has chosen to return to her family estate, Château de l’Engarran, in Languedoc. We thank her warmly and wish her all the best in this next chapter.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Émilien Érard as our new Cellar Master.
Born into a family of Champagne winegrowers and a passionate oenologist, Émilien Érard has been dedicated to crafting Champagne for the past 15 years.
Since joining the House in 2018, he has held several key roles—from overseeing the winery to building relationships with winegrowers and cooperatives—while being an active member of the tasting committee for the past seven years.
Émilien carries on the unique style of Charles Heidsieck, built on the extensive use of old reserve wines and aging in the Gallo-Roman chalk cellars acquired in 1867. He embodies the balance between heritage and ambition, combining oenological excellence, deep Champagne roots, and modern elegance.
It is only natural that he steps into this new role today, in the spirit of continued excellence.
THE GREAT CHARLES!
Over the past two decades - and no less than 12 times over those 20 years - the Charles Heidsieck Cellar Masters have been awarded the prestigious title of “Best Sparkling Winemaker of the Year” at the London International Wine Challenge. Their immense expertise and talent has brought them international renown fame in the industry. Each Cellar Master declared their winemaking to have been inspired by Charles’ audacity and his affinity for wandering off the beaten path.
